Former president Jimmy Carter has been in hospice care for a year. His grandson, Jason Carter, shared an update saying they don’t expect much from his body daily but his spirit remains strong. Another statement from Carter’s foundation echoed similar sentiments, expressing gratitude for the love and privacy they’ve received.
Despite being in hospice, Carter attended his wife Rosalyn’s funeral, moving many as he draped himself in a blanket celebrating their love, embroidered with their names and the year they met in Plains, Georgia.
Reports emerged last year that Jimmy Carter entered hospice care after hospital stays. The Carter Center revealed his decision to spend his remaining time at home with family and hospice care instead of further medical intervention. At 98, he’s the oldest living president since 2018.
He battled brain cancer in 2015 and underwent brain surgery in 2019. Apart from being a president, Carter was a peanut farmer, Navy Lieutenant, Sunday School teacher, and Habitat for Humanity volunteer. He resides in Plains, Georgia, with his wife Rosalyn, sharing four children.
Let’s keep Jimmy Carter and his family in our thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.
